QLD police investigate journalists

Check out this press release I received from the MEAA today.

It ties right in with the privacy and law issues we have been dealing with in class.

Hi Josh,

Great posting,I'm actually planning on writing my essay on this very topic.
Although there is talk about shield laws, they hardly hold any protection for the journalist or their sources.
When the day comes that sources are too intimidated to come to the journalist, where are the investigative stories going to come from? Will journalists lose the small amount of credibility that we have at present?

Thanks for the media release Josh, very interesting!

Cheers,

Lou

Why thankyou Louise and I'm glad this media release might come in handy for your essay.

In terms of sources being too intimidated, it would be a very sad day indeed. Journalists can be a vital link in the chain between hidden information and the public. They hold an important position within society and at the end of the day - a journalist is only as good as its sources.

The credibility factor is another issue all together. It needs to be a two way street where laws allow journalists have freedom, but they also need to respect that freedom as well.

Good luck with your essay.

Cheers,

Josh

PS. How good are the Custom Kings?
